Who is uninsured in Maryland
362,232 people under 65 in Maryland have no health coverage — 7.2% of the under-65 population, 35th highest of the 51 states and DC. 176,483 (49%) earn inside the premium tax credit range.
90,763 uninsured Maryland residents (25% of the total) earn under $22,025. Maryland expanded Medicaid, so that group mostly qualifies for it instead — and it enrolls year-round.
Where Maryland residents enroll, and by when
Maryland does not use HealthCare.gov. It runs Maryland Health Connection at marylandhealthconnection.gov, and sets its own enrollment dates — which are not always the federal ones. Applying at HealthCare.gov will redirect you.
Maryland's 2027 dates are not settled. Maryland Health Connection announced a December 31 end date in April 2026, before the federal rule was vacated, and has not published a revised date. We would rather say that than print a deadline we cannot source.
Checked 2026-09-01. 2027 dates moved nationally after a court ruling — what changed and why.
