Corrections

Errors get fixed and logged with a date, not edited away quietly.

Last reviewed September 4, 2026

We correct errors in public. When a page changes in a way that alters a fact, the change is logged here with its date rather than edited away quietly.

The log

No corrections have been issued. This site was first published in August 2026 and the log starts empty. It is here because it should exist before it is needed, not because nothing will ever be wrong.

Reporting an error

If a figure on this site is wrong, we want to know. Useful reports include:

Data corrections are the most valuable. If a county page reports an insurer count that does not match what is actually sold at your address, that is worth telling us — the underlying federal files are a snapshot and reality moves.

What we do about it

  1. Check it against the primary source, not against what we published.
  2. Fix it everywhere it appears. Derived figures are computed in one place, so a corrected input propagates rather than leaving stale copies.
  3. Log it here with the date, what was wrong, and what it is now.
  4. Update the reviewed date on the affected pages.

What counts as a correction

A change to a fact: a wrong figure, a wrong date, a wrong description of a rule. Rewriting a paragraph for clarity is not a correction and is not logged. Annual data refreshes are not corrections either — those are noted by the review date on each page.

Where the data itself may be wrong

Some limits are inherent and worth stating rather than discovering:

These are limits of the data, not errors in it, and we would rather name them here than have them found.
